Finca Temática

Finca Temática is located in the Tarrazú region of Costa Rica at an elevation of 1,600 meters above sea level. Surrounded by mountains, the farm benefits from a unique protected microclimate and rich volcanic soil, conditions that contribute to coffees with exceptional attributes, bright acidity, floral notes, and distinctive character.

Our farm is pesticide-free and surrounded by a wildlife refuge with a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The coffee is shade-grown, allowing the cherries to mature more slowly and develop greater sweetness, complexity, and a juicier cup profile.

At Finca Temática, we cultivate exotic coffee varieties such as Ethiopian Typica, Bourbon, and Java, carefully grown to express the unique terroir and natural beauty of the region.

Process

Natural Reposado

The Reposado Natural process begins with freshly harvested coffee cherries that are carefully rested and fermented for 48 hours before processing. In a natural process, the coffee bean remains inside the whole cherry throughout drying, allowing the fruit, sugars, and mucilage to deeply influence the final flavor profile.

During fermentation, the cherries develop greater sweetness, body, and complexity as the natural sugars and microorganisms interact inside the fruit. After this resting period, the cherries are washed and then slowly dried under controlled conditions to preserve balance, clarity, and character in the cup.

Because the coffee dries with the cascara (the outer fruit layer) still surrounding the bean, this process often creates fruit-forward flavors, wine-like characteristics, enhanced sweetness, and a more expressive cup profile.

The result is a unique coffee that reflects both the careful craftsmanship behind the process and the rich terroir of our farms in Tarrazú, Costa Rica.
